Sponsor-An-Unmarked-Veteran: Honor the Legacy

Silent Camp

In the serene stretches of Morris Hill Cemetery lies the Silent Camp section, a hallowed ground where many veterans had rested unacknowledged until recently. Pioneer Chapter, NSDAR took on a reverent mission to ensure that those who served in conflicts as early as the Civil War to World War II are forever remembered.

In May 2023, the Pioneer Chapter marked the graves of 17 veterans whose resting places had gone unmarked. This commendable initiative was made possible through the combined efforts of nonprofit organizations and the unwavering support from Boise Parks & Recreation.

With additional unmarked burials identified, the need for support continues. The Veterans Affairs has approved the delivery of more headstones and markers, and now the community’s help is requested to cover the installation costs. Each memorial requires a sponsorship of $235.

Why Sponsor a Memorial?

  • Perpetual Recognition: Your sponsorship ensures that each veteran’s sacrifice is eternally honored.
  • Stewardship Commitment: The Pioneer Chapter, in collaboration with Boise Parks & Recreation, will maintain the dignity of these memorials for generations.

Current Initiative:

  • 30 new headstones and markers are awaiting installation in Silent Camp and Field of Honor 2.
  • A dedication ceremony is planned for Fall 2024, honoring the memories and service of these brave individuals.

How to Contribute:

  • Sponsor a Memorial: A $235 sponsorship covers the cost of one memorial installation.
  • Make a Donation: Contributions can be made via check to Pioneer Chapter, NSDAR,
