Veterans and Families: Youโ€™re Invited to the 2025 Stand Down in Lewiston, Idaho!

Join us on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, for the Stand Down Resource, Health, and Benefits Fair at Clearwater River Casino, located at 17500 Nez Perce Road, Lewiston, ID 83501.

This important community event is dedicated to supporting all Veterans and their families, offering access to essential services and information including:

  • VA and military benefits assistance

  • Health screenings and wellness services

  • Resource booths from veteran-friendly providers

  • Food, beverages, and community connection

Admission is FREE with Military ID, VA ID, or DD214. All who served are welcome.

โœ… Free transportation is provided to Veterans by Appaloosa Express Transit via regular bus routes to and from the event.

Weโ€™re inviting the community to join us for the Fall Harvest Carnival on Saturday, September 20th, 2025, from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the Idaho State Veterans Home โ€“ Post Falls. This annual event honors our Veterans with a family-friendly fall celebration filled with laughter, music, and community spirit.

The goal? To โ€œleafโ€ no space empty! The entire front parking lot will be transformed into a festive carnival packed with:

  • ๐ŸŽช Veteran-supportive booths

  • ๐Ÿง Soft, seasonal sugar-free treats

  • โ˜• Warm fall beverages

  • ๐ŸŽฏ Carnival games & fun prizes

  • ๐Ÿ Petting zoos

  • ๐ŸŽถ Live music & dance performances

  • ๐Ÿšš Food trucks

  • ๐Ÿ Creative, fall-themed activities for all ages

Booth Setup: Begins at 12:00 PM. All booths must be fully ready by 1:00 PM.

September is National Recovery Month, and the Boise VA Medical Center is inviting community members, healthcare professionals, and organizations to participate in its 2025 Virtual Mental Health Summit. Get ready for a heartwarming afternoon of good food and great company at the 1st Annual Elkโ€™s BBQ, happening Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Snake River Elkโ€™s Lodge #2807 in Jerome, Idaho.

Veterans, spouses, and caregiversโ€”mark your calendars for a free educational event you wonโ€™t want to miss. On Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, join Hospice of North Idaho and community partners for the Veteran Resource Symposium, held to empower, inform, and support those whoโ€™ve served.

This symposium will take place in North Idaho and is open to all veterans and their families. Hear from expert speakers on a wide range of critical topics, including:

  • End-of-life care planning

  • Grief support services

  • Medicare and VA benefits

  • Veteran elder law

  • Document preparation and planning

Learn how to plan ahead with confidence and gain access to the resources youโ€™ve earned. This event is designed to answer your questions and help you make informed decisions for the future.

Breakfast and refreshments will be served, and while the event is completely free, donations are appreciated.

Honoring a Hero: 2025 Sergeant First Class Dustin Ard Commemorative Steel Competition

On Saturday, August 24, 2025, marksmen from across the region will gather at Fernan Rod & Gun Club in Coeur dโ€™Alene, Idaho for a powerful tribute and exciting challenge โ€” the Sergeant First Class Dustin Ard Commemorative Steel Competition.

This annual event honors SFC Dustin Ard, a fallen hero from the U.S. Army Special Forces, and supports the Special Forces Brotherhood and local veteran communities.

Presented by the Special Forces Association Chapter XLIII (Post Falls), the event runs from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and features a challenging steel shooting course. Entry is $100 per participant, with registration limited to 100 shooters โ€” and a prize table you wonโ€™t want to miss!

Whether you’re competing or simply want to show your support, this day is a meaningful opportunity to give back and celebrate the courage, dedication, and legacy of our Special Forces heroes.
