This spring, the Coeur d’Alene community has a unique opportunity to come together in support of those who have worn our nation’s uniform. The Inland Northwest Veterans Stand Down, scheduled for May 18th at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds, promises to be an event filled with camaraderie, support, and valuable resources for our veterans.

What is a Stand Down? Historically, a “stand down” offered battle-weary soldiers a safe retreat from the front lines where they could procure clean uniforms, enjoy warm meals, receive medical and dental care, and send letters home. Today, Stand Down events are designed with that same spirit in mind – providing veterans a space to access services, resources, and most importantly, a community that appreciates their sacrifice.

Why You Should Attend The Inland NW Veterans Stand Down is more than an event; it’s a symbol of gratitude and recognition. Whether you’re a veteran in need of services or a community member eager to show your support, there’s a place for you. Here’s what you can expect on May 18th:

  • Resources and Services: Veterans can connect with a wide range of support from VA claim assistance, health checks, employment services, to housing information. All services are provided free of charge.
  • Community and Solidarity: Meet fellow veterans, share stories, and strengthen bonds. It’s a day to remind our heroes that they are not alone and that their service is never forgotten.
  • Volunteer Opportunities: For those looking to give back, volunteering at the Stand Down is a powerful way to say thank you. Help out with the day’s activities, offer your services, or simply be there to lend an ear.
  • Ceremonial Honors: Join us as we pay tribute to the men and women who’ve served our country with ceremonial honors. It’s a moment to reflect on the bravery and sacrifices of our veterans.

Supporting Our Veterans Stand Down events are crucial in addressing the needs of veterans who face challenges transitioning back to civilian life. By attending the Stand Down, you’re contributing to a solution, offering a hand up to those in need, and ensuring our veterans receive the respect and support they deserve.

Join us on May 18th at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds. Let’s stand down together for those who stood up for us.
