2024 Yurt Trails Hennessey: Veterans Trail Project Sept 28-29

On September 28-29, join the Idaho Trails Association and the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation for a veterans-focused trail maintenance project in the Idaho City Yurt System. Volunteers will clear logs, brush trails, and repair trail tread while enjoying the beauty of the Boise National Forest. After a day of rewarding work, participants will enjoy an evening of glamping at the Hennessey Yurt.

This event offers an opportunity for veterans to give back to public lands while connecting with others who share a love for the outdoors.

CATCH (Charitable Assistance to Community’s Homeless) in Boise is dedicated to working with homeless individuals and families in Ada County, including our veterans. Our mission is to provide essential support and resources to those in need, helping them find stability and hope. We need your help to continue making a difference.

How You Can Help

We are currently in need of supplies to support homeless citizens, including veterans. Your contributions can make a significant impact on the lives of many who are struggling. Below is a list of needed items and information on how you can donate.

Needed Supplies

  • Clothing: New socks, underwear, and warm clothing for men, women, and children.
  • Hygiene Products: Shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, and feminine hygiene products.
  • Non-Perishable Food: Canned goods, dry foods, and snacks.
  • Bedding: Blankets, sleeping bags, and pillows.
  • Baby Supplies: Diapers, wipes, baby formula, and baby food.
  • Miscellaneous: Tents, tarps, backpacks, and first-aid kits.

Veterans at Golden Corral BoiseBoise, ID – November 16, 2023  – It was an afternoon of gratitude and community spirit at the Golden Corral in Boise, as the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Idaho gathered to celebrate a significant achievement in their Military Appreciation Fundraiser.

The event, hosted by Adriana Jimenez, the General Manager of Golden Corral Boise, saw a remarkable gathering of distinguished guests and committed community members. Among them were DAV-Idaho Commander W.D. ‘Bill’ Oehler, Golden Corral Committee Chairman 2023/24 Freddie White, DAV-Idaho Treasurer Ron Tolman, and Golden Corral Representative Fred. Wayne Del Mitchel, the Golden Corral Boise Chairman for 2023, was also in attendance, playing a pivotal role in the afternoons success.

The event not only highlighted the collaborative spirit between Golden Corral and the DAV Idaho but also underscored the generosity of the citizens of Ada County. Through the dedicated efforts of all involved, a remarkable $7,600 was raised for the Military Appreciation Funds, a testament to the community’s unwavering support for our veterans.
